At current Jamshilbul in the north of Seokchon Lake, the ferry on the south side of the west lake was Hangang river, but as time passed, the earth and sand were piled up and the artificial island was created, resulting in the creek that made up Songpa River and Shincheon River that pass through the current Seokchon Lake from Gwangjin Bridge to Jamsil Baseball Stadium. 

During the development of maintenance of the river bed in 1969, the river was reclaimed but some of them were left and in the beginning of the 1980s, the river was organized and the lake was created.

Songpa Naru Park' is an ideal form of park composed of lake and park divided into the east lake and west lake with the opening of Songpadaero and it is widely used as a resting place for citizens because of the jogging course and walkway. 

The area of Seokchon Lake is 217,850㎡, the amount of the slagnant water is 737 tons, the depth is 4~5m, and the source of the water is Hangang River and it was created in 1971.

The 'Seokchon Lake Cherry Blossom Festival' is a festival where the cherry blossoms and the natural environment of Seokchon Lake are in harmony. 

In April 2017, The start of the festival will be announced and various cultural and artistic performances, traditional art performances and concerts will be held for three days. In addition, various events to see and play such as experience exhibition, caricature, face painting and so on are prepared.
